How long will it take to process our claim?
In our experience Canada Revenue Agency processes the claims within 4 to 6 months after you apply.
When is my SR&ED claim due?
You have up to 18 months after the end of your fiscal year to apply to the program.
What happened after my claim is submitted
Once your claim is submitted the CRA will check that nothing is missing in the application. First time applicants usually go through a review process for further investigation. For other applicants, a technical reviewer determines first if the project is eligible. If it is, a financial reviewer examines the costs associated with the project to make sure the claimed expenses are eligible. Once the claim is accepted, a notice of assessment will be sent to you.
What is the refund rate for our company?
The SR&ED Investment Tax Credit (ITC) refundable rate for Canadian-controlled private corporations is 35% of your qualifying expenditures (with a limit of $3M). You can also earn a non-refundable ITC at the basic rate of 15% on amounts over $3 million.
Almost all provinces also participate to the SR&ED program in the form of tax credit or tax refund. The rate varies according to the provinces.

What expenditures are eligible
Qualifying expenditures to the SRED program are:
- • Salaries and wages of employees involved in research projects
- • Research contracts
- • Material used for your project
How much will it cost you to work with us?
We work on contingency; we will charge you only when you will receive your SR&ED funding. Our rate depends on the amount you will be claiming from the CRA and on the number of years you wish to work with us. The larger your tax credit will be the lower our fees will be. The longer you work with us the lower our fees will be.
